Fiordland Sunset
An absolutely stunning sunset breaks out over the peaks of Fiordland National Park, in New Zealands' South Island. I had spent the day at Milford Sound, in awe at the natural beauty of this part of the world, although had retunred to my nearby campsite slightly disappointed that the light had not been a little more cooperative during my time there. The blanket of cloud appeared set in for the rest of the day and nothing inthe forecast indicated that it would be lifting any time soon, so I began to cook some food and prepared to settle in for the evening. I did notice that over the distant peaks there appeared to be a change in the light and acting on a hunch more than anything else, I grabbed my camera, one lens and tripod and walked the short distance to a spot I had scouted the previous day, without any real conviction that there was to be any colour in the sky.
How wrong I was. Within minutes the previously bland sky expolded with vibrant pinks and yellows so I set about refining my position to be able to ensure the river ran through the image as a leading line. The show above carried on for enough time for me to create the image as well as forget about the camera and take the overwhelming beauty in.
