Queenscliff Magic
A 'gut feel' rush to Queenscliff Pier on a warm summer evening on the Bellarine Peninsula allowed me to capture this spectacular sunset image. It had been a mostly cloudy, yet humid, day and these are the conditions I feel always seem to result in some great light, so as the evening progressed, I studied the clouds and saw a small break in them on the western horizon. Even though the pier at Queenscliff faces away from the setting sun I knew that if I timed it right, the old structures would be illuminated by the soft light , and if the colour and clouds in the sky co-operated then I would possibly be able to capture something truly special. So, after the short drive here from my house, I quickly refined my composition to ensure the right balance of sky, structure and waves and waited for the right moment to open the shutter and create a magical photograph.
